AutoCAD Map 3D is a piece of software aimed at creating maps and planning infrastructure. It also stands as a management utility that operates with CAD (computer-aided design) and GIS (geographic information system) data.
The application comes with three different workspaces: "planning and analysis", "maintenance" and "2D drafting". The first one permits it for data to be gathered from several formats and for information to be then analyzed. Among others, queries related to defining topology, as well as topology and object thematic, can be inputted and measurements can be performed. This workspace is aimed at being used for conceptual and preliminary design, site planning and analysis, or planning of land use.
The maintenance workspace brings focus on aspects such as working with industrial models or configuring data models so that they comply with existent standards. The 2D drafting workspace allows the user to edit objects and the attributes they are assigned to.
AutoCAD Map 3D is a complex tool for mapping, infrastructure planning and management that allows for CAD and GIS data to be accessed, analyzed and integrated in various projects. Geo-spatial data can be managed in such a way that the workflow can be optimized and productivity be improved.
